Special of the Month hosts my favorite recipes that I made in a month; posted on the 2nd Tuesday. The bi-weekly series Tay Tastes Things (again) chronicles my food explorations. You can find them every other Wednesday. Taysty Tips is a new weekly series posting on Friday. It focuses on building and strengthening cooking skills and knowledge.
Special of the Month
Spicy Orange Beef
Spicy orange beef is a delicious and easy stir-fry dish. It can be paired with rice or noodles, but personally, I love it by itself. This dish can be made in a wok or 12-inch skillet.
Roasted Peking Chicken Breasts
Roasted Peking Chicken breast is a new recipe to help me in my quest to expand my culinary horizons. When I look for easy, delicious recipes, I cracked open my copy of The All New Good Housekeeping Cookbook by Susan Westmoreland. First off, I still love this cookbook. It was first published on December 31, 2001. My copy is falling apart at the spine. Consequently, I bought a slightly used copy from eBay. Oddly enough, I am still using the tattered copy.
Broccoli Cheese Soup
My all-time favorite soul-satisfying first-course dish is Broccoli Cheese Soup! Yep, even above Loaded Potato Soup.
Marinated Green Beens
he Special of the Week is Marinated Green Beans. My impartation for this dish comes from Whole Foods Market. In the deli, they sell a similar dish which I absolutely have love! Unfortunately for me, my local Whole Foods isn’t exactly local. Consequently, I decided to give try my hand at making this dish.
Berry Mixed Greens Salad with Poppy Seed Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette
This week’s Special of the Week is Berry Mixed Greens Salad with Poppy Seed Balsamic Vinaigrette, that is a mouth full. But so it this salad.
Thai Beef with Basil
Thai Beef with Basil, came about on a fluke. One day, I was strolling through the produce section of Walmart. Out of the corner of my eye, there was something so very surprising to me. Thai Basil.

Stocking Series: Kitchen Utensils
There are so many innovative and fun kitchen utensils; it easy to get carried away and sometimes lost. Do you need a metal or plastic spatula? Perhaps both? What’s the deal with spring-loaded tongs? Refer to this guide when it the time comes to pick up new kitchen utensils.
Stocking Series: Cookware
Many years ago, I purchased a set of pots from Fingerhut, which were made by Cuisinart.
Stocking Series: The Pantry
It is frustrating to run out of things, especially when I am in the middle of cooking! (Hint: Thoroughly reading recipes in advance this can be significantly minimized.) Having a well-stocked pantry can save the day when having to create a quick meal.
